This model is the 1/35th scale Tamiya Panther Ausf G. with the steel road wheels.  Assembly of the model was very straight forward with no problems to speak of.  I decided to use a multitude of aftermarket sets to really accentuate the model.  An Eduard metal gun barrel replaced the kit barrel and Eduard photo-etch items were utilised as well.  I scratchbuilt the side skirts from sheet metal.

I used Fruil Model white metal tracks to replace the kit tracks and these items really added a realistic touch to the model. The kit was painted with Tamiya and Model Master acrylics and enamels and the scheme was the standard tri-color camo. The Panther I wanted to depict was from 1st SS at the height of the Battle of the Bulge. I wanted the model to look weary, weather-beaten and "cold". I used the kit decals and once they were applied the Panther was weathered with Vallejo Paints, MIG Pigments and various artist's pens and pencils.

Finally, foliage was added to the Panther for an added touch of realism. Two crew figures were added and these came from a Dragon Tank crew set. This was a very fun build and a great opportunity to use some after-market sets and really accentuate the model with some weathering and battle-damage from the Ardennes campaign.
Best Wishes, Ian
